In the heart of Zwelimbovu, KwaZulu-Natal, a young girl named Thandie navigates a tumultuous life marked by her mother’s struggle with mental illness. Interpreted through various lenses—medical professionals, traditional healers, and a charismatic pastor—her mother’s condition becomes a battleground of beliefs and practices. As her mother begins a profound transformation into a sangoma, Thandie faces her own challenges, caught between the pull of modernity and tradition.
Amidst this, Thandie’s life takes a complex turn when she becomes entangled with a married man who offers financial support under the guise of assistance, but with hidden motives. This relationship exposes Thandie to the harsh realities of survival, dependency, and the blurred lines of moral choices.
